March Break @ Gananoque Public Library

Saturday with Sony PS4 and Classic Games
10 a.m. to 3 p.m. | Play 2019’s best rated sports game Steep for some high adrenalin time on the slopes or dive into the depths with Subnautica and Shark World. For those over 12, the library has the hit VR adventure game Moss. Do you like electronic music and apps like Garage Band? Then you can also try out Electronauts on VR and be your own DJ master. For those who enjoy old style games, we’ll also have playoffs with Ontario’s home game of crokinole and will be inviting players to join in the popular card game Sushi Go! Families welcome.

Monday in Full Color
10 to 11:30 a.m. | A special event for young children with a range of colorful learning activities. A rainbow tray of fruits and veggies will be provided. A short story will wrap up the morning along with music, movement and playful games that will include the big library parachute. 
Drop in to design & create a custom made friendship bracelet for a BFF or for yourself. The library will provide embroidery floss and all other materials required. Settle in at a table, sofa or beanbag chair. Step by step instructions will be provided for an array of designs, simple to advanced, for guys and girls.
1:00-3:00 p.m. | Take part in writing for fun with the library’s JustWrite writers group. Share your own story and take part in the daily writing challenge. If you wish to join the group, write and bring along a colorful story of 500 words or less that ends with: “It was one of the craziest things that ever happened to me.”

Chill Out, Its Tuesday! 
Head outside to the park to find colorful ice blocks provided by the library. Engineer an ice inuksuk or ice castle, or use the blocks for an outdoor game with friends like hot and cold. Blocks will be available starting at 10 a.m. Where will you find them? Hints will be posted nearby. Library opens at 1 p.m.
Free build with our library Minecraft LEGO, build and program a robot with LEGO Mindstorms, create your own sounds, lights and actions using out Snap Circuits electricity set, or try some Scratch coding on a computer. The night finishes with our usual LEGO Club and mega stash of LEGO from 6-7 p.m. 
2 to 3 p.m. | The news is out. The library is finally on Bell Fibre. With our faster internet speeds we are able to host our first ever Fortnite Tournament. Contact the library for information and registration. 

Wednesday Music Mix 
1 to 3 p.m. | Do you play the ukulele? Have you been learning the basics and want to join in something a little bigger? Drop by the library and join in our weekly Ukulele Jam session. Or sign out a ukulele and learn to play. There’s always a first time!
4 to 6 p.m. | Make your own fairy story garden in a miniature tin box with LED lighting. Kits will be provided that contain one of three story themes. Fine motor assembly skills will be required as the project involves detailed cutting, working with tweezers and precise gluing. Registration required. 8 spaces available. For ages 8+

Thursday Movie Madness
Two movies showing at two different times to suit all ages. We’ll provide the popcorn! 
Paddington 2 | 1 to 3 p.m. | Settled in with the Brown family, Paddington the bear is a popular member of the community who spreads joy and marmalade wherever he goes. One fine day, he spots a pop-up book in an antique shop -- the perfect present for his beloved aunt's 100th birthday. When a thief steals the prized book, Paddington embarks on an epic quest to unmask the culprit before Aunt Lucy's big celebration. (1 hr 44 min)

Avatar | 3:30 to 7 p.m. | On the lush alien world of Pandora live the Na'vi, beings who appear primitive but are highly evolved. Because the planet's environment is poisonous, human/Na'vi hybrids, called Avatars, must link to human minds to allow for free movement on Pandora. Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), a paralyzed former Marine, becomes mobile again through one such Avatar and falls in love with a Na'vi woman (Zoe Saldana). As a bond with her grows, he is drawn into a battle for the survival of her world. (2 hr 42 min)

Fashionista Friday
Put your mark on what you wear. Drop by the library with any article of clothing to spice up your style. We’ll provide fabric, fabric paints, iron-on transfers and sewing materials. You provide your own creative flair. 

Saturday Setup for Saint Paddy’s Day
Sunday is the day for green and a little luck of the Irish. Drop by the library to paint your nails green and put on some St. Patrick’s Day tattoos!
