FRAUD CHARGES LAID AGAINST FORMER FIRE CHIEF GERALD BENNETT

The Ontario Provincial Police Anti-Rackets Unit, today, laid 25 charges against the Town of Gananoque’s former Fire Chief Gerald Bennett. Bennett had been released from his employment in November 2016 after financial irregularities were identified. A forensic auditor conducted an internal investigation and the OPP was notified.
“The Town will not provide further comment as the matter is now before the Courts,” advised Mayor, Ted Lojko. “We’d like to thank the public and the firefighters for their patience while the OPP conducted their investigation. We have the utmost trust and confidence in the current members of the Fire Service under the leadership of Fire Chief Steve Tiernan.”
