Ontario Trillium Foundation Grants $150,000 for the Gord Brown Memorial Canada 150 Outdoor Rink

On Monday, February 11th, 2019 at 8:00 a.m., at the 1000 Islands Gananoque Chamber of Commerce Annual Levee Breakfast, Steve Clark, MPP Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes announced that the Town of Gananoque is receiving a $150,000 Ontario Trillium Foundation Capital grant to assist in purchasing a refrigeration unit for the Gord Brown Memorial Canada 150 Outdoor Rink.

MPP Clark and Ontario Trillium Foundation volunteer Rai King congratulated Mayor Lojko and Chair Jeff Brown on the work being done to build the Gord Brown Memorial Canada 150 Outdoor Rink in Gananoque. This year-round outdoor recreational pad will be used by local residents and visitors to increase access to recreation in the greater community.

“I’m so pleased that the Ontario Trillium Foundation has provided this $150,000 grant to install ice-making equipment at the Gord Brown Memorial rink in Gananoque. It’s an honour to be part of today’s announcement and I want to thank the volunteer committee members who have worked so hard to make their vision of creating this wonderful community facility a reality,” said Steve Clark, MPP for Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes. “Gord was passionate about hockey and his community and I can think of no better legacy for him than this outdoor rink. It will bring people of all ages together to experience the same joy Gord did in playing our great Canadian winter pastime for years to come.”
