The Gananoque Heritage Committee has actively worked on the restoration and preservation of Susan Push over the past 4 years. The ongoing fundraising efforts have been used to refurbish and paint Susan, which was completed in 2017. Fundraising efforts continue for the next phase of the project, to install a cover which would provide protection from the outdoor elements.
In order to preserve Susan Push, the Heritage Committee will be shrink wrapping the train this fall. The use of shrinkwrap to preserve outdoor artifacts is recommended by Jean-Paul Viaud, Curator, Exprorail. Exporail used the same practice for a Newfoundland train set with one locomotive and two freight cars. The Heritage Committee would like to thank everyone for their contributions and ongoing support for the project.
