Gananoque, ON: Throughout the last year, the Town of Gananoque and the Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands have had the pleasure of working on many projects with the goal of continuing investment attraction efforts in the region. The Town and the Township held a Diversity in Tech event on Monday, February 4th, 2019 at the Firehall Theatre in Gananoque. This event was geared towards how individuals and organizations can attract and retain top talent by being more inclusive.
Four speakers were selected as panelists in the discussion. In attendance, Alix Kellar a CIO from ConsenSys in New York City, Billy Snow a UX Lead from Northwestern Mutual in New York City, Laura Kittner owner of Tangent in Kingston, and Peng-Sang Cau the CEO of Transformix in Kingston. These four individuals motivated and inspired the 70 individuals who were in attendance. The discussion not only showcased the growing opportunity of technology-based businesses in our region, but an overwhelming support to encourage entrepreneurs and youth to follow their aspirations.
The Town and Township would like to thank the event sponsors, big river technologies, KEYS Job Centre, 1000 Islands Gananoque Chamber of Commerce, 1000 Islands Workforce Development and Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs, the panelists who shared their stories with us, the artists who displayed their creative pieces, and all those who were able to attend. We are excited to continue building diverse and inclusive communities.
