CRCA issues a watershed conditions statement – Water safety

Public Notices

The CRCA watershed received between 20 and 50 mm of rain over the last 3 days, much of it falling over the last 24 hours. This has resulted in increased creek flows and levels. Urban creeks are already peaking and larger rural creeks are expected to peak on the weekend resulting in typical spring time inundation.

Although rainfall has tapered off area lakes will continue to rise over the next few days. Area water managers are trying to pass the water through the watersheds as quickly as possible to minimize the flooding potential but caution that higher than average water levels are expected. As a result the public should expect increased flows through water control structures. Widespread flooding is NOT expected at this time.
