TOWN OF GANANOQUE & CHILD CARE UNITED DAYCARE NEGOTATING A SHORT TERM LEASE OF THE FORMER KINSMEN BUILDING

Public Notices

Gananoque, ON: On March 9th, 2017, the Kinsmen Club abandoned their building located at 400 Stone Street North.  As a result, the lease agreement between the Kinsmen and the Daycare became null and void.  Because the Town owns the land under the building, the building became the property of the Town.

It is not in the best interests of the Town or the Daycare to be owning/occupying a building without any agreed upon terms or conditions.  To that end, the Town is working with the Daycare to craft a short-term lease agreement that abides by the Municipal Act with regards to its anti-bonusing provisions.  The Town has provided the Daycare with a draft agreement for their consideration and looks forward to their timely response to the Town’s proposal.

At the Town Council meeting held last night, Mayor Erika Demchuk expressed Town Council’s desire to work with the Daycare to come to an agreement and assured the public that Town Council recognizes the Daycare as an important and valued organization in the community.
