Town of Gananoque Continues to Monitor COVID-19

Public Notices

The Municipal Emergency Control Group (MECG) continues to meet and review municipal operations as the Coronavirus/COVID-19 continues to evolve within Canada, Ontario, and regionally.

The following Town facilities remain closed to the public until end of day April 5, 2020.

•    Town Hall, (30 King Street East)
•    Lou Jeffries, Gananoque & TLTI Recreation Centre (600 King Street E),
•    Visitor Centre (10 King Street E)
•    Public Works, (665 Charles Street N)
•    Emergency Services, (345 Herbert Street). Essential personnel will be allowed in the building

The Town will begin further measures to increase social distancing amongst staff including working from home, staggering/rotating personnel, outside assignments, etc. The Town is, however, committed to providing the essential services to our residents and will continue to be available by phone or electronic means.

The Town has postponed the Neptune Water Meter Replacement program at homes and businesses for the time being.

“Residents and businesses need to implement and follow procedures provided by our Health Organizations,” said Town of Gananoque Mayor, Ted Lojko, “Ensure that you are doing your part to help your neighbours and co-workers by washing or sanitizing your hands, social distancing, and be conscious of your surroundings and contacts.  COVID-19 is not to be taken lightly.”

It is stressed that residents continue to heed the advice of our Public Health Officials from the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit, Ontario Ministry of Health, and Health Canada to protect you and your families.  The risk continues to be low within our community at this time, however, it is changing on a daily basis throughout the Province.

The Ministry of Health has provided a self-assessment tool to help determine if you think you have symptoms or have been in close contact with someone who has.  It is available at https://www.ontario.ca/page/2019-novel-coronavirus-covid-19-self-assess….

The Town will continue to monitor the information released by the Province and Public Health.  Please refer to the Town of Gananoque COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Information webpage for further information and updates.
