UPDATE - Water Main Break - King Street east of Elizabeth Drive

Public Notices

Please note that the reference to 408 Elmwood Drive should have been 108 Elmwood Drive, not 408. This has been corrected in the paragraph below. Our apologies for the inconvenience.

Please be advised that efforts to repair the water main break, located on the west side of Shoppers Drug Mart have been completed and the distribution system has been put back into service, east of Elizabeth Drive. The Leeds, Grenville & Lanark Health Unit issued a Boiled Water Advisory on the morning of Sunday, July 7th, 2019, for properties affected. Properties affected by the watermain break consisted of properties on King Street East, on the north and south sides, east of Elizabeth Drive to the extent of the distribution system at the east end of Town, as well as residential properties on Elizabeth Drive between King Street and Pine Street, Pine Street between Elizabeth Drive and Elmwood Drive, and Elmwood Drive between Pine Street and just north of MacDonald Drive, specifically properties on the west and east sides north of 108 Elmwood Drive. Only those properties within this affected area, that received the “Boil Water Advisory” Notice from the Leeds, Grenville & Lanark District Health Unit (see link below with that Notice), were affected. The link provided outlines specific provisions for the “Boil Water Advisory” for those affected properties.

Gananoque Boil Water Advisory NOTICE July 7 2019

PLEASE NOTE that the “Boil Water Advisory” will remain in effect until affected properties are notified by the Leeds, Grenville & Lanark District Health Unit. The Public Works Department has performed water sampling of the distribution system in the affected area and are awaiting the results from the testing lab in Kingston. Once Public Works receive results from the lab, the Town will be communicating with the Leeds, Grenville & Lanark District Health Unit to provide them the results of the testing, so they can determine if the “Boil Water Advisory” can be lifted.

The Public Works Department would like to thank residents, business owners, and visitors to Gananoque for their patience while we responded to this watermain break.
