This summer season, the Town of Gananoque, the Townships of Leeds and the Thousand Islands and Front of Yonge Township have teamed up to encourage residents to get out and explore over 30 great walking, biking and hiking trails throughout the collective region.
“We want to foster hope and positivity throughout our communities and encourage healthy living during the continued pandemic.” says event organizer, Emily Parker, Town of Gananoque. “Our trails are world class with lots of space for everyone to be safe and experience the freedom that comes with being outside in nature alone or with others”
The Adventure Awaits program will run from June 1 to August 31, 2021. While on the trails, residents are encouraged to take pictures of their experiences and then share those pictures online using the hashtag #AdventureAwaits and tagging Gananoque, Front of Yonge or Leeds Thousand Islands municipalities. Submit your photo online to be entered into a weekly draw for your chance to win a $25.00 gift certificate. All gift certificates will be purchased from local establishments, now more than ever it is important to support our local businesses who are the backbone of our communities.
Walkers, hikers, bikers, birders and just plain old nature lovers will need to fill out an entry form which can be found online at Workshops and Events - Leeds and the Thousand Islands (leeds1000islands.ca). The link to submit your entry can also be found on Town of Gananoque, the Townships of Leeds and the Thousand Islands and Front of Yonge social media accounts.
"Our municipalities are really looking forward to connecting with others in our communities by sharing these adventures online and encouraging everyone to discover the beauty of our region”. Stated Parker.
