Town News

It’s the time of year for spreading kindness and good cheer to our community. Commencing on December 6th, 2020, The Town of Gananoque is pleased to present to our friends all over the region “A Wonderful Life in Gananoque”. There are thoughtfully planned festivities throughout the holiday season.

Children will have the opportunity to meet Santa & Mrs. Claus at his Grotto in Town Park, where proper social distance and safety measures have been put in place. There will be carolling on the steps of Town Hall every Saturday afternoon and you will be able to enjoy two fire pits maintained by the wonderful volunteers from Gananoque Fire Service.

Every Wednesday just after 6pm, Santa will be reading children’s stories on 99.9 MyFM. Santa will be reading a special story on December 24th, ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas, as he prepares for his big journey.

The Town will also be hosting a Winter Lights competition, residents are encouraged to decorate their homes for the holiday season, a group of judges will pick a winner from each ward (North, South, and West) and one award is given to the business with the best window/light display. The winners of the Winter Lights Competition will be announced December 18th on the Town’s Facebook page.

Many of our community partners have also prepared events for all to enjoy over the holiday season, On December 5th the 1000 Islands Gananoque Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a stand still Santa Claus Parade, the Gananoque Curling Club will be handing our FREE hot chocolate and apple cider in Town Park prior to the parade and the 1000 Islands History Museum will be lighting up the museum and will offer a walk-by window exhibit “Toys of Yesteryear”.
