Gananoque, ON: The collaboration between the Town of Gananoque and the Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands is well underway. The Rural Economic Development Program is currently in the midst of its first endeavour, a Business Gap Analysis. This is the first step in a variety of initiatives for “Creating an Ecosystem for Innovative Business.”
A Business Gap Analysis is critical in identifying sectors of the economy that primarily require growth. The identification of these gaps will deliver the insight needed to successfully move forward with upcoming investment attraction projects.
A request for proposal was issued in March 2018 and the Town and the Township have selected the firm of McSweeney and Associates to complete the project. Ian Duff, Vice President of McSweeney & Associates comments, “We are excited to be collaborating with the Town of Gananoque and Township of Leeds and Thousand Islands on this very important project. We will live up to our reputation as “Canada’s most respected economic development consulting firm” by ensuring we leave no stone unturned while we carefully examine those realistic and meaningful investment opportunities for the region.”
The Town and the Township are excited to move forward with McSweeney & Associates to gain a better understanding of the potential business opportunities in the region and to develop the necessary tools to market the region to the entrepreneurial sector.
