Town of Gananoque & Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands Introduce Business Chronicles Project

Town News

Gananoque, ON: The Town and Township are excited to introduce the Business Chronicles; an
initiative that showcases local businesses through social media posts and websites. Business
Chronicles allows our region to show appreciation to those individuals that have aided in the
growth of the economy, our local business owners. The objective is to give local businesses an
opportunity to share their story and further cultivate relationships with the community and
consumer. The project is funded by the Rural Economic Development Program administered by
Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.

Municipal staff will begin business outreach on September 5th, 2018. Questions will range from
why you selected the region as a final destination for your business to fun facts about you as an
individual. This is an opportunity for local businesses to advertise, encourage shopping locally,
and connect with future customers on a personal level. The business stories will be used as part
of investment attraction campaigns to encourage other entrepreneurs to start or relocate
businesses in our region.

Mayor Erika Demchuk shared a few thoughts, “The Business Chronicles will be an excellent
opportunity to showcase our business community and celebrate our exciting, robust
businesses. Our region is an ideal place for entrepreneurs and we want to show our support.”
Mayor Joe Baptista added, “Learning about our neighbours, directly from our neighbours,
fosters positive growth and enhances the supply chain here in our region. This is an innovative
partnership that will keep our communities linked for years to come.”

Further instruction will accompany each interview with requirements and final deadline. Sample
interviews have been released on the Town and Township websites for reference. We look
forward to hearing from you!
