Warmer weather coming - please staff off the ice

GANANOQUE RIVER – ST LAWRENCE RIVER

Gananoque, ON –The Town of Gananoque is warning residents, visitors and their pets to stay away from all bodies of water. 

 The ice may appear to be solid however the thickness varies and ice conditions cannot be trusted.  The ice is not safe in any areas.

Weather temperatures have been fluctuating all winter.  It appears it will continue to change as indicated in future weather forecasts.  Forecasted conditions may see a rise in water levels particularly in the areas of Confederation Park or low lying shorelines.

 “It’s a scary time of year around water when temperatures fluctuate” stated Chief Gerry Bennett. “It may look ok but it can be dangerous”.

 Parents, caregivers, friends please urge children to stay away from all areas of water.
