The United Counties of Leeds and Grenville (the Counties) is pleased to advise that the fee subsidy program has been expanded this year to include eligible Recreation Camp Programs. This expansion supports a commitment by the Counties to increase access to recreation camp opportunities over the summer months, ensuring more children can benefit from safe, engaging, and enriching recreational experiences.
Families must meet specific financial and program eligibility criteria, as determined by the Counties, to qualify for fee subsidy and only recreation camp programs that meet the following criteria will be funded.
The Recreation Camp Program Operator must be one of the following:
- A Municipality or Consolidated Municipal Service Manager (CMSM)
- A member of the YMCA
- A High Five Accredited organization
- A member of the Boys and Girls Club of Canada
- A publicly funded School Board
- A Friendship Centre that is a member of the Ontario Federation of Indigenous Friendship Centres
And, the Recreation Camp Program must meet the following criteria:
- The program must be directly operated by the eligible Operator.
- Staff working in the camp program must be employed by the Operator.
- The program must not operate in a person’s home or private residence.
- The program must comply with the Safe Drinking Water Act. If not on a municipal water source, the Operator must provide a Drinking Water System Identification Number (DWIS#).
- The program must serve only children aged 4 years or older.
- The program must not operate for more than 13 weeks in a calendar year.
Eligible Program Operators are required to sign a Service Agreement with the Counties, which outlines the conditions and provision of funding. For more information or to request a Fee Subsidy Service Agreement for Recreation Camp Programs, Operators should email childrenservices@uclg.on.ca.
To apply for fee subsidy, families are asked to contact our office directly by calling 613-342-3840, extension 2351 or email childcare@uclg.on.ca.
Thank you for your dedication to providing high-quality recreation programming for children and youth across Leeds and Grenville.
