Parks and Recreation

The Parks & Recreation Department is responsible for overseeing the recreation facilities, programs and leisure services for residents and visitors.

We work closely with community groups, volunteers and individuals as a facilitator to ensure that the community needs are addressed. Working together with our nieghbours in Leeds and the Thousand Island Township we offer a wide variety of recreational and leisure activities for children and adults.

User Groups (Lou Jeffries Arena – Gananoque)

Hello Everyone,  

I just wanted to send out a short update and reminder email to all our User Groups.  Starting today, Thursday, February 17, 2022, we are seeing some of our restrictions lifted at the Lou Jeffries Arena for both indoor recreation and hall rentals. Full our revised policies, please see the attached documents for your perusal and a summary below.

Facilities used for indoor or outdoor sports and recreational fitness activities:

  • Capacity limit of 50% for spectator area
  • No capacity limit for rest of facility (i.e. change rooms);
  • Spectators do not need to remain seated to eat and drink;
  • No requirement for physical distancing;
  • Face coverings required, with exemptions;
  • Proof of vaccination required (Guidance);
  • Active screening required; no contact tracing

Meeting and event spaces

  • Open with indoor capacity at 100%
  • Proof of vaccination required (Guidance); 
  • Attendees do not need to remain seated to eat and drink
  • Active screening required; no contact tracing
  • Face coverings required, with exemptions;
  • Must comply with requirements for restaurants, bars and other food or drink establishments when food or drink is served

More restrictions are being lifted March 1, 2022 and we will let you know once confirmed.
