The Parks & Recreation Department is responsible for overseeing the recreation facilities, programs and leisure services for residents and visitors.
We work closely with community groups, volunteers and individuals as a facilitator to ensure that the community needs are addressed. Working together with our nieghbours in Leeds and the Thousand Island Township we offer a wide variety of recreational and leisure activities for children and adults.
Recreation Centre
The Lou Jeffries Arena is located at 600 King Street in Gananoque. The arena hosts one ice pad and 4 dressing rooms. Ice rentals and banquet hall rentals are available and skating schedules are updated seasonally. The Lou Jeffries Arena has ice available for rent. Perfect for private bookings, team practices, birthday parties, corporate events, sponsored skates and more!
This ice is offered on a first come, first served basis only. Payment is due upon booking and is non-refundable. Must be booked a minimum of 1-hour increments (50 min ice use/10 min flood). Please be advised that hockey nets are available, but you must bring your own sticks and equipment. Participation is first come, please limit use and share the space with all users. The score clock is available for private rentals and must be requested in advance prior to your arrival.
Dressing rooms are not provided, and participants are asked to come ready to play/skate. Biscuit pucks and hard like items intended for shooting are not permitted. Please use ball hockey balls and pucks only.
FREE PUBLIC SKATING TIMES AT THE GBM CANADA 150 OUTDOOR RINK: Participants of all ages can enjoy a leisurely skate around the ice surface. In a continuous flow with the rest of skaters. No sticks or pucks, strollers or outside skating aides are permitted during these opportunities. This is an open unsupervised skate. Standard skating supports are permitted. No horseplay, tag or racing is permitted
Splash Pad
The splash pad located at Joel Stone Heritage) is now open for the 2025 season. Joel Stone Heritage Park Washrooms are currently open and will close nightly at 9pm.
