Notice | Residential Dump Day Cancelled

Public Notices

Residential Dump Day scheduled for August 22, 2026 has been cancelled.

Information for Town Residents

Unfortunately, the Town is no longer able to accept waste or compost materials of any kind at the Public Works Yard. The Site, accessed via James A. Brennan Road, is permanently closed to the public for the disposal of these materials.

The Town understands that the closure of the Public Works Yard at 665 Charles Street North is frustrating and inconvenient for residents who have relied on this location to dispose of waste and compost materials.

Why can’t the Town accept these materials?

The Town is required to comply with environmental regulations established by the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP). The Public Works Yard is not authorized to continue accepting public waste and compost materials, and continuing to do so could put the Town out of compliance with these regulatory requirements.

This decision is not being made to inconvenience residents; it is necessary to ensure the Town operates in accordance with provincial environmental regulations. If the Town continued to accept waste while not in compliance, the Town could be subject to severe fines and enforcement orders.

What options are available?

Residents are encouraged to continue using the Town’s curbside collection programs when available:

  • Leaf and yard waste collection
  • Brush collection

Materials that are not accepted through the Town’s curbside collection programs must be taken to an appropriate licensed waste management or composting facility outside of Town.

We understand the frustration

The Town appreciates residents’ patience and understanding as we work through this change. We recognize that residents need convenient and affordable options for managing household waste, yard waste, and other materials.

The Town is exploring alternative options for the disposal of other materials and will provide additional information as options become available.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
