The Public Works Yard remains open temporarily for leaf and yard waste disposal until Saturday, October 31, 2026. The Town can accept leaf and yard waste only at the Yard. Bagged or loose, leaf and yard waste is accepted free of charge. This does not include brush.
Following direction from The Ministry of the Environment, Conservation & Parks to close the yard in order to remain compliant with regulations established by the Ministry, notice was received for a temporary extension. Due to concerns raised around the seasonal demand for leaf and yard waste management, and as an expression of their commitment to working with the Town, The Ministry granted a temporary extension for the acceptance of leaf and yard waste only, until October 31st.
October 31st is the final day for operations at the Yard. 8am-12noon. Following October 31st, the Yard will close, as per direction from the Ministry of the Environment.
The Town is committed to continuing to research alternative options for disposal of other waste.
If you require information regarding current alternative disposal locations, visit our website or contact the Public Works Office.
