  • Howard Allen, Treasurer, Stone South Condominium Corporation, appeared before Council and presented a PowerPoint presentation and made various requests to Council. Council passed a Motion directing staff to bring back a report addressing these requests.
  • Council read for a first (1st) and second (2nd) time By-law No. 2026-001, being a By-law to adopt the 2026 Operating and 2026-2035 Capital Budgets. The third reading will
  • considered on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.
  • Council read for a first (1st) and second (2nd) time By-law No. 2026-002, being a By-law to adopt the 2026 Water and Wastewater Operating and Capital Budget and Rates.
  • The third reading will considered on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.
  • The 2024 Municipal Profile was received for information, which included key findings from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing (MMAH), and the Town’s 2024 Financial Information Return (FIR).
  • Council upheld Motion #26-028, being a Motion to support Edwardsburg-Cardinal
  • Nomination to Kraft Hockeyville for Spencerville Arena. It should be noted that
  • the Town of Gananoque has since been nominated into the Kraft Hockeyville Competition.
  • Council passed a Motion to establish a separate budget line item for ongoing funding
  • for both the Physician Recruitment and Experiential Locum Policies for the purposes
  • of attracting family physicians to Gananoque and allocate up to $42,500 per year from the general tax levy effective with the 2026 Operating budget, and further, Council
  • reinstated the Community Grant Program and allocated $42,500 to the 2026 Operating
  • Budget.
  • A Motion was passed to direct Staff to bring back a report regarding the feasibility and costing of installing a pedestrian crossover at Stone Street North and North Street.
  • A By-law was passed to authorize the Mayor and the Clerk to sign an Agreement with the Thousand Islands Accommodation Partners (TIAP) regarding the Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT).
  • A By-law was passed to authorize the Mayor and Clerk to sign an extension Joint Party Agreement for Healthcare Recruitment with the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville (UCLG), City of Brockville, and the Town of Prescott extending the term to April 20, 2026.
  • Deputy Mayor Leakey advised that a Public Meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, regarding a Proposed Class III Development Permit Amendment
  • (DP2026-01) for 580 King Street East to amend DP2025-17 to add a 40M2 addition at
  • the front of the building for the purpose of a Pharmacy.
