- Shannon Griggs, Gananoque Seniors Association and Bob Howard, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 92 appeared before Council to request the consideration of allowing free parking in the Pine Street Parking lot on Wednesdays from 1:00 to 4:00 PM, to allow seniors to attend the Seniors Drop-In Centre. Council passed a motion requesting that Staff bring back a report for consideration at a future meeting.
- Mayor Beddows proclaimed May 17th-23rd, 2026, as “Paramedic Services Week”.
- Council postponed the, “Recording and Making Available Council Meetings” staff report to December 2026.
- A By-law was passed by Council to amend the General Fees and Rates By-law – Schedule ‘G’ – Taxi Meter Rates,. Changes to the Taxi Meter rates include the following:
- “One way within Town limits (includes wheelchair accessible van)” to remove $10.00 and replace with $13.00;
- “Delivery” to remove $15.00 and replace with $16.00, and;
- “Waiting time” be replaced with “Waiting/Loading time”.
- Council approved a budget deviation in the amount of $972,082.00 for the completion of renovations at 400 Stone Street North, to accommodate additional daycare spaces. Subsequently, Council passed a By-law authorizing the Mayor and Clerk to sign an Agreement with David J. Cupido Construction Limited for the procurement of services to complete general contracting and renovation services.
- Council received the “2023 to 2026 Legal Costs by Category” report for information.
- Council passed a By-law to appoint Wesley McFarlane to perform the duties of Building Inspector.
- Council directed staff to bring back a report amending the Procedural By-law regarding staff reports to include all staff may author and present reports to Council.
- The Municipal Buy Ontario Procurement Directive, was received by Council for information.
- Council received as information, Improved Data Intelligence for Infrastructure Planning in 2026.
- The Casino Funding Annual Report was received for information.
- Staff were directed by Council to bring back a report regarding the Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT) received from 2022 to 2025, and that a Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT) report be presented annually.
- Council directed Staff to bring back a report addressing the Health and Safety concerns regarding Water Street, as per correspondence received from Lynda Garrah, and that the slope between Park Street and the Raceway be included in the report.
- Council directed Staff to being back a report recommending that fees be charged to individuals filing an Integrity Commissioner report against Council members.
- Mayor Beddows advised that he will be bringing forward a Notice of Motion on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, requesting a Staff Report regarding the recent planting of trees within Gananoque.
- Council received an Integrity Commissioner report with respect to a code of conduct complaint regarding Councillor Osmond, which was found to not be a breach of the code of conduct. It was further directed that a copy of the report be attached to the Council Minutes of Wednesday, May 20th, 2026, and published on the Town’s website.
- Council directed staff to retain the services of Frontenac Appraisal Services in the amount of $3,300 plus HST to appraise lands as presented in Council Report-PD-2026-IC-02.
