GHS Park: Petunias Put on a Show

to

In August, come see masses of Petunias planted in waves in the Gananoque Horticultural Society Park at 21 Main Street.

Since the first ‘Year of the Petunia’, promoted by the Horticultural Society in 1935, petunias have been planted extensively throughout the town. During World War II, Canadian soldiers from here were known as “the boys from Petunia Town”, and the flower became the official symbol of Gananoque on March 5, 1963.

The Petunias blooming in the central garden this summer are Supertunia Vista® selections by Proven Winners, as these are the most floriferous varieties available. They have been planted in waves in the central garden, and throughout other sunny areas of the Park.

Pick up our Gananoque Horticultural Society Park Plan in our Library Box for more information on the history of the Park and the Petunia. Enjoy!

The Park is open to the public and free!
