Arrrgh Maties…It’s a week of Pirate Days at the waterfront from Mon. July 11 – Sat. July 16th as well as Chalk the Walk’s rain date in the Town Park. Pirate games, face painting, tattoos and activities all week 11am – 3pm at the waterfront with Capt Jack Sparrow, Reptiles of Extinction 10am Friday the 15th and a Pirate Feast and Cruise with Capt Jack Saturday the 16th evening on the Gananoque Boat Line.
A Scallywags and Pirates parade is Fri. July 15 at 7:00pm. Haul in that dinghy, decorate that old scow, trailer in that leaky old boat and round up a crew. The recruiting call is out to tall pirates, small pirates, big pirates, young pirates, old pirates, and saucy old sea dogs and smugglers.
Don’t expect pirate mayhem and plundering, just lots of family fun, pirate noise and nonsense. Line up at the Rec Centre at 6:30pm, parade King St. to park at 7:00pm.
The parade of rapscallions and runaways ends 7:30pm to a roust of tunes by Horsefeathers, a notorious “band” of scallywags and salty dogs captured by Kevin Head.
Saturday July 16 at 11:00 am, in the Town Park. Any and all Look-a-Likes who profess to be the infamous Captain Jack Sparrow, are wanted for questioning. You will be judged by authority of the Mayor of Gananoque, The Chief of Police and a guest of notorious disguise, a very “savvy” Ronnie Rodriguez. Awards for first and seconds for those Look-a-Likes, 0-8 years old, 9-14 years old and 15 years and over, and a medal of participation for all.
After the best and the worst of the scoundrels are judged, there’s more fun in the park, Pirate Air Castle, music, balloons, face painting, stilt-walker, caricature artist, face painting and more. Head downtown for the BIA Pieces of Eight Treasure Hunt, Sidewalk Swag Sale, Pirate photos and more.
