Potential Power Outage | January 27, 2025

Public Notices

Severe winds are forecasted today across parts of central and eastern Ontario and along the shorelines of Lake Superior (northwestern and northeastern) and are expected to continue late into the evening.

Hydro One crews are proactively geared up and ready to respond to any outages that may occur as quickly and safely as possible. They are monitoring the weather closely and have their crews ready to get the lights back on for their customers, if outages occur.

If outages occur, an estimated time of restoration will be determined for each outage once damage has been assessed by their crews.

Customers are encouraged to prepare for an extended power outage. This includes restocking their emergency kit with items like water, nonperishable food and cash.

For more information on items to include in your emergency kit, visit https://www.hydroone.com/power-outages-and-safety/emergency-preparedness.

Please note that outages are largely caused by severe winds bringing down trees and branches onto distribution lines, and by lightning strikes. Hydro One reminds the community to stay clear of any fallen power lines. If you spot a fallen line, keep at least 10 meters back, even if it does not appear to be live. Report it to 911 and call Hydro One at 1-800-434-1235.
