  • Tony Fleming, Integrity Commissioner (IC), provided an overview of the IC Investigation Report regarding Mayor Beddows. Council passed a motion to: receive the report, suspend remuneration paid to Mayor John Beddows for a period of 80 days, to make the Integrity Commissioner’s Investigation report available as an attachment to the Council Minutes of Tuesday, May 20, 2025 and post on the Town’s website under the Integrity Commissioner’s page, and; that Mayor Beddows provide a written apology to Town staff.
  • Jeff Johnston, Manager of Parks & Recreation, was recognized for his completion of the Parks & Recreation Management Certificate from York University. Congratulations, Jeff!
  • Rodger Gollogly, Lions Club of Gananoque Member, appeared before Council to request that a cement lion statue be placed in Lions Park at Wilson Drive and King Street East. Council passed a motion directing Staff to work with the Gananoque Lions Club to install the statue.
  • Phil Mangan appeared before Council to discuss the Ice Allocation Policy. Council passed a motion directing staff to review the Ice Allocation Policy and to bring back a report with recommendations for consideration.
  • Council passed a motion directing Staff to bring back a detailed Council report by August 12, 2025, regarding the reduction of Council Composition from seven (7) to five (5) members.
  • Council passed a By-law to amend the General Fees and Rates By-law No. 2025-015 – Schedule ‘I’ – Disposal Site Fees – Waste Items, to remove in its entirety, Item #2, fees for Brush, Leaf and Yard Waste at the Public Works Yard.  A By-law will be brought back for passage on Tuesday, June 3, 2025.
  • A By-law was passed, authorizing staff to submit an application to Ontario Infrastructure and Lands Corporation (“OILC”) for the long-term financing of Marina Capital Work(s).
  • Council received the Strong Mayor Powers Report for information.
  • Council passed a motion to award a Physician Locum Grant to the Greenwood Medical Centre in the amount of $16,000, in accordance with the 40-day limit of 40% Locum funding.
  • Council received correspondence from the Gananoque Rotary Club regarding an Invasive Species Clean-Up. Subsequentially, Council passed a motion directing Staff to bring back a report for consideration.
  • A motion was passed by Council to authorize the Mayor to forward correspondence to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing regarding Development Charges.
  • Mayor Beddows provided notice that on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at 5:00 PM, a Public Meeting will be held regarding a Proposed Class III Development Permit (DP2025-07) – 250 Wilson Drive – to relocate the building to the south side of the dwelling for before and after school and summer programs.
