Council Meeting Highlights – April 5, 2022

Town News
  • Council selected Mary Price, Jayne Curtis and Murray Higgs as the 2021 Champions of Gananoque.  Their names will be etched in the plaque located at the Lou Jeffries Arena.
  • The Mayor declared April 17th to 23rd 2022Pitch-In Week.  Town Staff and Citizens are invited to attend a pitch-in event being held on Thursday, April 21st beginning at 9:00 AM at Town Hall.
  • Council accepted the Integrity Commissioner’s 2021 Annual Report
  • Council approved the raising of the 1000 Islands Pride Flag at Town Hall from July 10-17, 2022 for their 4th Annual Pride Celebration.
  • The next meeting of the Kinsmen Building Advisory Panel will be held on Wednesday, April 6th at Town Hall in the Gordon K. Brown Council Chambers at 4:30PM
  • Council approved a Town Park basic rental rate of $168.45 including hydro.
  • Council will return to in person meetings on April 19th in Council Chambers with the public welcome to attend. Staff were directed to bring forward a report on the pros and cons of resuming the Committee of the Whole/Council format.
  • Council voted to extend the contract with Waste Connections Canada for Curbside Solid Waste and Recycling for a 1 year period.
  • Council approved an easement agreement with Eastern Ontario Power to allow hydro infrastructure going underground at 600 King Street East to service a Tesla Supercharging Station at the Canadian Tire property. 
  • Council increased the Corporate Mileage Rate from $0.50/km to $0.58/km.
  • Council received the 2022 Long Term Debt Schedule for information. 
  • Council approved a Court Security and Prisoner Transportation (CSPT) Program Transfer Agreement with the Solicitor General in the funding amount of $48,404.04.
  • Council awarded the Joel Stone Park Amphitheatre Tent replacement contract to All Shelters Sales and Rentals in the amount of $43,526.25. The insurance settlement is still in process.  The installation will be completed by June 24th, 2022.
