Council Meeting Highlights – July 12, 2022

Town News
  • A Public Meeting was held for a Class III Development Permit Application at 380 Maple Street North for a short term accommodation with two guest rooms. Council approved the application to permit a short-term accommodation containing two guest rooms, with a number of provisions.
  • The Gananoque Canoe Club was awarded a 2022 Community Grant in the amount of $1,695.
  • The Epilepsy and Seizure Disorder Resource Centre received a 2022 Community Grant in the amount of $2,500.
  • Town Council approved a request for a letter of support from Gananoque Housing Inc. (Stocking Hill Apartments) to be included in a funding proposal to begin a feasibility study for development of a 25-unit residence.
  • Council approved $19,000 budget deviation by the Tourism Advisory Panel to draw funds from the reserve to support future 2022 applications/project.  
  • Council approved entering into a Pre-Servicing Agreement with the RGH Development - Rocky Acres IV Subdivision.
  • Council authorized Staff to increase parking enforcement hours by 15 hours per week for the months of July and August at a cost of $3,000. 
  • Council approved a Budget Deviation for the Town Park Revitalization Project with an upset limit of $29,000.  
  • Council approved the renewal agreement with Marsh & McLennan Companies and Halpenny Insurance for the provision of the Town of Gananoque’s 2022 Insurance Policy Renewal, which includes an 80% premium increase. 
  • Council increased the Ice Rental Rates to add a 3% increase to the ice surface fees and rates for the 2022/2023 ice season.
  • Council extended the Kinsmen Building Advisory Panel Term to November 14, 2022
