Council Meeting Highlights – May 3, 2022

Town News
  • Council requested that staff prepare a report to investigate providing hourly rates for Parks.
  • Council directed staff to relocate the soccer nets from the Town Park Ball Field to Steelworker’s Park.
  • Council extended the Lease Agreement with the Thousand Island Youth Boxing Club another one (1) year term.
  • A $5,000 Community Grant was approved for the GanaRockWay Committee to support the “Le FestiveÎLES”, a French Music Concert in Joel Stone Park planned for mid-summer 2022.
  • Council received the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing (MMAH) – Financial Indicator Review (FIR).  The Town scored in the low risk range for all financial categories.
  • Council received the 2021 Year-End Financial Results. The year ended with a $559,703 operating department surplus, which was transferred to the capital reserve. On the $19,199,341 2021 budget, this translates to a 2.9% variance.
  • Council amended the Traffic & Parking By-law to allow transient Marina Parking (daily/weekly/monthly) to be administered by the Honk Mobile online App.
  • A Commemorative Bench and Tree Plaque Policy was established along with the General Fees and Rates By-law, amended to include fees related to the new policy.
  • Council received the 2022 Water and Wastewater First (1st) Quarter Reports for information.
  • Council received the 2022 First (1st) Quarter Fire Department Report for information.
