Here is the Council News for Tuesday November 15, 2022 - First meeting of the newly elected Council for the term 2022-2026:

  • CAO Shellee Fournier presided over the Swearing In Ceremony of the New Council. Following the swearing in, the Mayor and each Councillor provided their remarks in an opening Address.
  • The first motion passed by the new Council was to direct Staff to provide the required notice to amend the Procedural By-law to change the term of the Deputy Mayor from a one (1) year term to a four (4) year term.  The By-law amendment will be considered at a future meeting. 
  • Council pre-approved $2,000 for the Council Conference budget for the year 2023.  This early approval allows members of Council to register for the ROMA conference being held in Toronto in January. 
  • The 2023 Council Schedule was passed to have Council meetings on the first and third Tuesday of each month – with only one meeting being held per month in January, July and August. Special meetings can be held at the call of the Mayor.
  • Council authorized the Clerk to call for applications for the Advisory Panels via the Town’s website and Social Media platforms. Working Groups will be discussed at a future meeting.
  • Council approved a $400 Community Grant to Hay-Mont Arts Inc. for the purpose of hosting a one-day art show on at the Firehall Theatre on December 4th 2022.
  • Public Meeting Announcements:  
    • Arthur Street Rehabilitation Project  There will be an in-person public meeting at Town Hall on Wednesday November 30, 2022 from 5:00PM-7:00PM
    • Class III Development Permit Application – 125 First Street.  A public meeting will be held at the Town Hall Council Chambers on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at 6:00 PM
