Town News
  • A Public Meeting was held for a proposed Class III Development Permit (DP2025-07) – 250 Wilson Drive, to relocate the building to the south side of the dwelling for before and after school and summer programs to accommodate up to thirty (30) children. Council approved the proposal with conditions.
  • A Public Meeting was held for a Class III Development Permit (DP2025-08) – 90 King Street East, to allow one short-term accommodation unit (1 Bedroom). The application was approved by Council with conditions.
  • A By-law was passed to authorize the Mayor and Clerk to sign an agreement with Strong Bros. General Contracting Ltd., for the removal of the King Street Pedestrian (Train) Bridge, to an upset limit of $488,900 (excluding the Town’s share of HST).
  • Council voted to proceed with an offer from the Rotary Club of Gananoque to coordinate volunteers for an Invasive Species Clean Up, pending insurance provisions.
  • The General Fees and Rates By-law No. 2025-015, Disposal Site Fee, Schedule ‘I’ was amended by By-law to remove in its entirety ‘Item #2, Brush, Leaf and Yard Waste fees at the Public Works Yard’.
  • A By-law was passed to allow the Mayor and Clerk to sign a funding agreement from Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada to receive a grant in the amount of $11,587.39, for the procurement of four (4) sets of ice-water rescue gear.
  • Council passed a By-law authorizing the Mayor and Clerk to sign an agreement with Robinson Consultants Inc (RCI), for the engineering and design for urgent stormwater repairs and maintenance to an upset limit of $73,790.60 (excluding the Town’s share of HST).
  • Council passed a Motion directing staff to proceed with re-evaluation of the Backflow Prevention By-law.
  • Council received the First (1st) Quarter Water & Wastewater Reports.
  • Council received a report for information regarding the status of the Community Grant Program.
  • A Community Grant in the amount of $4,000 was approved for the Frontenac Arch Biosphere Network Nature Camp Summer Program.
  • Council approved a Community Grant in the amount of $2,500 to Jacey and James Kellar to upgrade a shotput and discus pad renovation at Gananoque Intermediate Secondary School.
  • Council approved “Carmel Lane” as a private right-of-way accessed within the Township of Leeds and the 1000 Islands (TLTI) into the Town of Gananoque. Council further directed staff to circulate the update to all agencies for 9-1-1 addressing.
  • A By-law was passed to amend the Mobile Canteen By-law – Permitted Location for Mobile Canteens – Schedule ‘B’. The amendment removes in its entirety, “2.1.2. One (1) Licence – Charles Street N and Stone Street North” on Schedule ‘B’ as a permitted location for Mobile Canteens on Public Property.
  • Council passed a Motion supporting a request from the First People’s Performing Arts Festival of the Thousand Islands to place little shows on the Town Hall front steps from September 21 to October 5, 2025.
