Town of Gananoque Prepares for COVID-19

As the Coronavirus/COVID-19 situation evolves, protecting the health and safety of our residents, businesses, and staff is our top priority. Our Municipal Emergency Control Group has been meeting to make decisions on factors that impact operations and resident services. It is important to know that the Town of Gananoque has emergency plans and processes in place to monitor and address emerging issues like this one.

Protect Yourself & Those Around You – Leeds, Grenville & Lanark District Health Unit – COVID-19.  To reduce the spread, including Influenza (flu), stomach bug (Norovirus) and the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) it is recommended that you: 

  • Avoid close contact with people – keep at least 6 feet away
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose & mouth unless you have just cleaned your hands
  • Stay home from school or work when you are sick 
  • Cover your cough or sneeze
  • Avoid visiting people in hospitals or long-term care centres if you are sick 
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces
  • Wash your hands often and thoroughly with soap and warm water
  • Use alcohol based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol
  • No need to wear a mask if you are well & not caring for someone who has COVID-19


Leed Grenville and Lanark Health Unit Community-based COVID-19 Assessment Centres*

Anyone who thinks they may have COVID-19 is encouraged to go to the Ministry of Health’s website and complete a self-assessment online.

Assessment Centres have been set up in Brockville, Smiths Falls, Almonte, and Kingston. Some health care providers and hospitals are also able to do COVID-19 testing. If you have COVID-19 like symptoms, complete this online self-assessment tool first.

Brockville Assessment Centre:
Appointments or referrals are no longer required. This centre accepts walk-ins for screening
Location: 100 Magedoma Boulevard, Brockville
Monday - Friday: 10:00am–5:30pm
Saturday & Sunday: 10:00am–2:30pm

Smiths Falls/Almonte Assessment Centres:
These centres require a referral and appointment.
Call your health care provider or the Health Unit (1-800-660-5853 extension 2222) for a referral.

Obtaining Test Results: The Health Unit calls all Leeds, Grenville and Lanark residents with negative or positive COVID-19 lab results every day between 8:30am and 4:30pm. If the lab result arrives after 4:30pm the person is called the next day. Continue to self-isolate until you hear from us.

KFL&A Community COVID-19 Assessment Centre*

Location: Leon's Centre, 1 Tragically Hip Way (Enter at Gate 2 on Ontario St.)
Hours of Operation: Open 7 days a week, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
