Town of Gananoque to Close Bay Road to Vehicular Traffic

Public Notices

Effective immediately, the Council of the Town of Gananoque has voted to close Bay Road to all vehicular traffic, from the westerly extent of the Marina Parking Lot to just south of King Street West on a trial basis until Spring 2022. The road will remain open for multi-use purposes (bicycles and pedestrian use)

Public consultation was conducted in regards to this matter between May 4th – May 18th, 2021 via an online survey, as COVID-19 restrictions prevented in person consultations. Results from the public feedback was compiled and presented to council.
The Public Works Department has been consulted to provide options to implement a barricade system that would allow for Emergency Services special access.

Data will be reviewed and re-evaluated at the end of the 2021 boating season.
Bay Road will continue to remain closed for vehicle traffic during the winter months as in previous years, but will remain open for pedestrian use.
